The first Black Miss World: Jennifer Hosten In 1970, the contest had allowed two entries from South Africa, one black, one white. Even greater controversy then followed after the result was announced. The Grenadian Miss Jennifer Hosten won, becoming the first Black woman to win Miss World, and the Black contestant from South Africa was placed second.
